Drive

Last night I watched Drive upon Mitchell’s request. It was really good!

The plot, he and I both agree, was simple. It was twisted and strange but simple and not surprising.

Altogether though it was beautifully filmed! The camera angles and movements were seamless and all created a sort of emotional theme for the film. I love it when movie’s use silence as part of their soundtrack. There were moments with no background music specifically to enhance intensity. The music within the piece was great though!

Ryan Gosling was the perfect actor to play the protagonist! It was such a different role than I’m used to seeing him in that at first it was weird seeing him act like a mostly-silent criminal. After the first few scenes though it was really obvious that he was playing the character perfectly!  The deeper emotions within the characters were displayed perfectly too! The subtle and powerful emotions within them were displayed even in moments of silence.

The movie was really great! No, it wasn’t a revolutionary piece about life and there was no hidden message, but cinematography-wise it was awesome!

Mitchell

Wow!

We sat in the park and talked for hours! He played guitar and I listened. We meditated. He made me laugh a lot. I don’t know, he’s just funny and intellectual and weird.

7:15 PM
  • Mitchell: I like you, you're obviously very intelligent and I find that an extremely attractive trait in a woman
  • Mitchell: I'm interested in you and would like to spend time getting to know you better
  • Me: Wow whatta gentleman,;)
  • Mitchell: And bending you over(: Jk lol
6:58 PM
  • Mitchell: So when you gonna suck some dick?
  • Me: When you gunna start treating me with respect?
  • Mitchell: When you start giving proper head lol
  • Me: Then we've reached an impasse
  • Mitchell: Ok I'll treat you with respect while you're deepthroating my dick :)
  • Me: After I've decided I can trust you and that you plan to make me a girlfriend instead of some hookup

Last Night > This Morning

Here’s a layout of the things I remember from last night:

Arriving to a group of people standing outside and Ali and Alex welcoming me! Grabbing a coke and mixing it. Holiday walking in and asking me what I was drinking. Ali warning me not to start using the restroom otherwise I’d be in there all night. Asking Haley where her bathroom was. Leaning back on the plant box and Basia catching me. Using Jordan for balance several times. Asking Tanner questions for Basia. Sitting on a rock with Basia in a shady corner. Nadia calling herself a “fucking moocher.” Walking through mud. Nick walking in and me introducing myself (even though I know him) with a very intimate hug. Ali warning me not to be sloppy. Ali telling me I was sloshed. Calling my moms phone only to realize she hadn’t paid her bill. Paying Ali $5 for a ride home. Ali telling me Nick puked in the woods, me wanting to go back to comfort him (although the party was over and he had probably left). Walking into my house and thinking about how loud the door was.

Here’s this morning:

Woke up with my jeans still on, my shirt on the floor, my bandeaux still on, and my sandals in the bathroom. Texts from my phone that I never knew I sent. Head Pounding. Several trips to the bathroom. Feeling sick when I lay down in any position. Water. Water. Should I eat food? Texts asking for help. Plain burnt toast.

Hannah Llach
Hannah has had a huge part in my growth this year! When I joined the 4th period ASB class I wasn’t sure if I’d be accepted, but Hannah became close to me right away! She was always a good role model for how to be nice and outgoing, but it wasn’t until I really got to know her that I realized how much of a good friend she really is! I won’t forget her school spirit and her just all around kindness. She helped me learn to enjoy the good things about life and not sweat the bad. I will miss her deeply when I leave! I love Hannah, happiness just radiates from her.

Pat has always been a good friend. Through times of drifting apart and times of drifting extremely, extremely close he has remained the same supportive care-free guy. In times of great depression he lifts me up and makes me realize how infinitely unimportant my problems are. He has always supported me just as I have always tried to support him. I’ll miss him when I leave for SFSU, but I know I’ll never lose touch with him!

Alex Llerenas
My bitchy co-editor (I say with the deepest affection!). I won’t know what to do when I leave and don’t have him reminding me of the strict boundaries and high standards we hold our photos to! He has helped me tremendously over the past year both in Yearbook and in personal matters. I will always regard his photography as art and I will never take for granted my time with him. I will be proud to one day see his world famous work and say “I know that man, he was my best friend once!”
